MyFirstPost
This is my first post using Hugo blogging platform
I’ve always wanted to, but never bothered keeping a blog of the things that I work on. I never really considered that anything that I do is relevant to others. Which is, I admit, nuts as I use other peoples blogs to corroborate things all the time.
Whilst I do joke that my job as a DevOps engineer is googling how to do stuff and then copy and pasting from StackOverflow that is only partly true.
Finding AN answer on StackOverflow is easy, finding the CORRECT answer on the other hand is a whole different kettle of fish. Finding the CORRECT answer in same CONTEXT as the problem you are trying to solve is extremely unlikely.
So, one of the main skills of a good DevOps engineer, or SysAdmin, is to be able to filter the nonsense from your research and apply the most correct solution to your situation. And that last bit is one of the hardest, and lest well applied, aspects of our job.
Whilst working on issues recently I have come across some issues that were either hard to find answers for, or where there were answers there was not a lot of information. So I hope that, by adding my voice to the collective, I can help others corroborate their troubleshooting strategies and research.
